Lunch Panel: Conveying the Story Behind the Science

Saturday March 9th

Noon – 1:30

Lead by: Jessica Shepherd, Education Corrdinator, Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve

We, as scientists, educators, and inquisitive laymen, know that scientific findings can be infinitely informative, and intellectually satisfying. But that’s not how everyone perceives science. During this session learn how a panel of local writers, reporters, and artists use the story behind the science to impart meaning and relevance to scientific findings.  Panel members include: author and UAA professor Nancy Lord, author and environmental educator Marilyn Sigman, Homer News editor and science-fiction author Michael Armstrong, K-12 educator Bill Noomah, and nationally acclaimed sculptor Rika Mouw.

LUNCH IS INCLUDED!  PLEASE PRE-REGISTER SO WE HAVE ENOUGH FOOD!
